Welcome to Burbage Surgery Online

This surgery website is used to present all our patients with up to date news and information about our practice. We will keep it current with any developments or other details that we feel are relevant to you.

As well as a source of information about our practice, the staff and the services we provide, we hope you will use this website as a useful resource for other health-related information.

Coronavirus Update

Please look here for the latest guidance from the Government, including the new rules and restrictions, how to access support and help, and advice on self isolating and testing

https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus

We would like to reassure you that we at the Surgery will continue to work in the same way we have been over the last few months.
There is no need to cancel any appointments. Please attend if you have one booked. We will continue to offer telephone consultations with GPs in the first instance, and if a face to face appointment is appropriate, this will be arranged. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have concerns. We are here to look after you.
Nurse appointments will continue as before, please call us if you need a blood test or if you are due a diabetic or any other review.
We are continuing to offer child immunisations, smears, contraceptive advice and coil insertions as normal, and our flu clinic at the Village Hall tomorrow will go ahead as planned.
Please only come into the surgery building if you have a pre-booked appointment, and remember to wear a face covering. Please continue to use the window at the back of reception for general queries and prescription collection, respecting the 2m social distancing rules.

Everyone coming into our Surgery for any reason is asked to wear a face covering of some sort. It does not need to be a medical mask or anything expensive.

The exceptions are:

children under the age of 11,

people with disabilities and

those with breathing difficulties

those accompanying someone who relies on lip reading.

These are the new rules that we have to abide by. Many thanks for your support.

You are still only able to book telephone appointments with the GPs. Please book these online if possible. You will be invited to attend the Surgery for a face to face appointment if appropriate. The nurses are now seeing patients for essential blood tests, immunisations, smears and routine check ups for diabetes, COPD etc. These can be booked by calling reception.

Please do not attend the Surgery unless specifically asked to do so by the staff. You will not be able to come in unless you have an appointment.

We are continuing to dispense medication from the window at the back window of reception. Orders will normally be ready to collect after three working days, and you will usually get a text message to confirm. We are only able to dispense one month of medication at a time. In order to help us manage the very high workload, please do not put your prescription in more than a week early, and order your repeats online if you can.

We have just had the vaccines delivered for Boris's batch of over 50s.  Please go online to book your slot on Tuesday 8th December at the Village Hall. We may arrange a further clinic in due course.

Anyone who is attending the surgery to see a clinician will be offered the vaccination at that time if they are eligible, and if we have enough vaccines in stock.

Eligible children will be vaccinated at school. At-risk children can be vaccinated at the Surgery, please call reception to book an appointment.

 Cervical Screening and Child Immunisations.

Please contact the surgery to book your appointment if you have had an invitation letter or if you have deferred your smear because of the Covid pandemic.

DoctorLink

Burbage Surgery would like to invite you to join DoctorLink.

We have been looking at how we can improve access to Practice services; DoctorLink is our new online service where you can access advice and appointments on line.

Registration is simple and you can register here:

https://app.doctorlink.com/burbagesurgery/register

For all urgent appointments, we ask that you undertake a symptom assessment through DoctorLink.

The symptom checker will ask you a number of questions to help to identify your problem.

The outcome of your assessment will direct you to the right treatment, whether emergency care, your GP, nurse or self care.

If your outcome indicates that an appointment is required, you simply click on the request appointment link.

Once the request has been submitted, you will then be contacted by the Practice Team, to arrange an appointment within the identified timeframe (as outlined in the outcome of your symptom checker).

The information you provide will be shared with our clinical team (where appropriate) and will assist in providing robust information of your problem to the required clinical team member prior to your appointment.

You can even download the App:

GDPR

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into force in the UK on 25th May 2018. Under GDPR GP surgeries are ‘data controllers’, registered with Information Commissioners Office (ICO), who oversee data protection law in the UK. GDPR ‘right to be informed’ encompasses the obligation to provide fair processing and transparent use personal data.

In practice this means:

  • Telling you about the information we collect, how we use it and who we share it with.
  • Assuring you that your data will be safe, kept confidential and used appropriately
  • Enabling you to opt out of sharing your data at any time
  • Making you aware that you have the right to access your data

For more information click here:   How we use your information

Prescriptions

PLEASE ALLOW AT LEAST 3 FULL WORKING DAYS BETWEEN ORDERING AND COLLECTING YOUR REPEAT MEDICATION.

WE RECOMMEND YOU KEEP 2 WEEKS OF MEDICATION IN STOCK AT HOME SO YOU ARE LESS LIKELY TO RUN OUT

When ordering repeat prescriptions online, please be aware that we cannot respond to any queries made in the comments box.  Should there be a problem with your medicine request, a staff member will contact you directly.

Please note that any medicine reviews that require an appointment with the nurse or doctor will be instigated by the surgery.  Please ignore any "review" requests that appear when ordering your medicines online - thank you.

Your feedback please!!

We are always looking to improve our service and would like to hear what you think about us. Please complete the Friends and Family Test, either on here, via MJOG the text messaging service or at reception. We also have comments leaflets in the waiting room.

Named Accountable GP

Practices throughout the UK are contractually obliged to inform all patients of who their accountable GP is.

We have divided our patient list between Dr Rebecca Style and Dr James Downie, who are now the 2 Partners here. As a general rule, patients in the first half of the alphabet have been allocated to Dr Downie and those in the second half to Dr Style. For administrative purposes these will be the accountable GPs.

As before, however, everyone is free to see whichever GP they wish,

If you have any questions, or would like to change your accountable GP please don’t hesitate to ask at Reception
